Salamanca Promotions Pty Ltd provide Software Solutions for the Web-based environment, installation, training and development. We provide these marketing products to SME's throughout Australia. Based on a 10 year history as a publishing company with connections throughout the tourism industry in Tasmania, and recently expanded operations to Victoria, the company's own content reaches over 60,000 readers per month. These 300,000 page views provide a solid enquiry base of people interested in topics such as dining, travel and leisure. This means that our solutions, which are packaged, "off the shelf' products provide oyu with speedy effectiveness. Our stand-alone advertising opportunities create increased readership for exisiting sites across a wide variety of market sectors.

This is a brief outline of the services available at Salamanca Promotions. The following sections explain in simple terms, what we do.

SalPro offer a number of products that provide the framework for several types of online campaigns. The most common of these are outlined on our product page. In addition to these carefully selected Product Packs, we provide companion services which support your choice of Pack, and to support the discovery of your site by as many readers as possible. All our product packs and supplementary services represent years of experience in website production. An example of a service might be as simple as the selection and registration of an appropriate Domain Name (the address of your site).

Website Production

The core of our business is to provide an optimal Web-based environment for the promotion of your products and services. We do this is two ways. Firstly we make sure that the mechanisms for creation of content are complete, streamlined and efficient for readers, and easy for you or us to maintain on your behalf. Second, we are in a unique position because of our own extensive network of sites to provide you with traffic flow. Our Marketing staff are equipped to provide you withe evidence of our success in this area. We offer an advertising subscription program for some specific market segments, in particular, to tourism and hospitality businesses through our Precinct Power Package.

We produce websites for clients who do not retain in-house expertise to do so. This includes all products which include pre-packaged, yet flexible design elements, production facilities, hosting, maintenance (either casual or with product packages, and we manage the online presence for many clients.

It is a complete service provided by expert webmasters and publishers with over 15 years of online custodianship.

Photography

Salamanca Promotions can provide an excellent product/venue photography, and also license images from our huge collection of original photography. Our inhouse photographer is equipped with the latest digital gadgetry, and has a knack for constantly capturing the right shots.

Graphic Design

Our production staff are experienced in design of artwork and images that are highly optimized for an online environment. Unlike traditional print design, development of a signature theme for your website is a much more technically challenging task.

Essential Modules

This is a collection of GPL licensed Drupal contributed modules. Some have already been included in the main distribution as they are considered core features. This collection extends the feature base further, with a number of pre-installed and pre-configured modules.

They are provided in the Core Pack for their raw utility and power. They also make it possible to develop a wide variety of websites by simply activating the pre-installed module from an easy menu.

You can further extend your Drupal website with any module available for Drupal, there is no restriction with the GPL. This compilation of modules represents some of the best contributed Drupal open source code, has been extensively tested, and is a check-box away from activation. They are provided with handy documentation and SalPro pre-configuration.

Basic Site Capabilities

The modules included with this collection are considered basic functions required by almost any website. They are ripe candidates for inclusion within core features for future versions, but are still optional within this distribution.

Essential Themes

Drupal is distributed with four excellent themes. SalPro have modified the core Drupal themes to support all Core Pack content types and included modules ( where possible). Templates are provided for these custom content types, which provide avenues for further customization. Each theme can also be customized using CSS, the world standard for website styling.

We provide documentation and layout descriptors for each theme, giving graphic designers an excellent starting point for theme customization, even if they have never seen Drupal.

There are also hundreds of Drupal themes available on the internet, some by hobbyists, others by professional designers. Any Drupal 5.1 compatible theme can provide a starting point.

Reference Documentation

Much of the drupal.org handbook documentation has been liberally edited and indexed and integrated with the installation in the form of Helptip content and DrupalHelp content pages. This documentation is integrated into the Core Pack itself, and can be configured to display only for certain roles when installed.

SalPro have also added documentation where it was missing, and formatted it in a uniform way.

This documentation is provided under the Creative Commons License, Attribution- ShareAlike 2.0, and copyright is retained by the individual authors.

Preset Content

SalPro have developed a number of useful resources and integrated them as vocabularies, work flows, pre-written content, and other helpful additions.

Data includes geographical descriptors of local areas, regional classification, industry classification, common subject types, typical business work flows, contact forms, and navigation menus.

This data can be used to assist in rapid site development and effective content management.

Modular Pack

This package includes the Core Package and a series of pre-configured modules useful for various online features.

Each Modular Pack is an entire website tailored for a specific purpose, with features and content relevant to the particular package.

Comment

This is a core optional module that allows comments to be made on content.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Frequently Asked Questions (faq) module allows users with the ' administer faq' permission to create question and answer pairs which they want displayed on the 'faq' page. The 'faq' page is automatically generated from the FAQ nodes configured.

This module allows you to set some meta tags for each node, view or panels page.

Path

The path module lets you create URL aliases for your Drupal pages. By default, Drupal automatically creates web address like www.example.com/?q=node/67, which many people feel are not user-friendly. Also search engines will give better rankings to pages that have more human-friendly URLs, especially if they include relevant keywords - for instance, www.example.com/?q=all-about-tarantulas.

Profile

This core optional module lets your users share information about themselves. You set up forms for them to fill in. Users tell about themselves by filling in your forms on the edit tab of their "My Account" page. And what each user tells will be visible to the rest of the users on your site, to the extent you choose when you design the forms.

Search

This is a core optional module tht lets users search for specific content on your site. You can search both for users and for particular words.

With a regular search, if you enter more than one search term the search module will look for content that has all the terms you've entered. If instead you want either one term or another, join your terms with "or." If you're looking for an exact phrase, enclose it in quotation marks.

Statistics

This is a core optional module that keeps track of numerous statistics of site usage. It counts how many times, and from where each of your posts is viewed. The statistics module can be used to learn many useful things about how users are interacting with each other and with your site.

Taxonomy

This core optional module lets you classify content into categories and subcategories, thus organizing the content on your site. For example, you could classify music by genre: classical, jazz, rock. And you might further classify " classical" into concertos, sonatas, symphonies, and so on. When your users create new content, you can let them classify it (or even require them to do so) right when they create it.

Throttle

This core optional module provides a congestion control throttling mechanism for automatically detecting a surge in incoming traffic. If the site gets linked to by a popular website, or otherwise comes under a "Denial of Service" ( DoS) attack, your webserver might become overwhelmed. This mechanism is utilized by other modules to automatically optimize their performance by temporarily disabling CPU-intensive functionality. For example, in the site theme, you might choose to disable pictures when the site is too busy (reducing bandwidth), or in modules, you might choose to disable some complicated logic ( reducing CPU utilization).

This is a contributed module. Tokens are small bits of text that can be placed into larger documents via simple placeholders, like %site-name or [user]. The Token module provides a central API for modules to use these tokens, and expose their own token values.

The upload module allows users to upload files to the site. The ability to upload files to a site is important for members of a community who want to share work. It is also useful to administrators who want to keep uploaded files connected to a node or page.

Workflow

This contributed module allows the creation and assignment of arbitrary workflows to Drupal node types. Workflows are made up of workflow states. For example, a workflow with the states Draft, Review, and Published could be assigned to the Story node type.
